Pedal Loom

Pedal Loom

Through the passing of time, the handmade looms and their precise mechanisms based on sticks, weave the threads of wool that gives the shape to the fabric. Composed of a cluster of threads, the pedal loom, usually operated by men, vertically organizes the "warp" and horizontally "the plot". The method of warping is given by passing the warp above and below the weft, crossing it repeatedly until weaving the fabric. Fabric artists produce mainly wool fabrics, by weaving yarns dyed with natural dyes in cheerful colors for the creation of original looms with which they make all kinds of garments such as overcoats, serapes, jorongos, as well as tapestries, cushions and bedspreads. Unmistakable designs to dress and protect the cold with artistic beauty by representing in their creations their land, their culture and their traditions.
